Boss Carlo Ancelotti made several changes as he looked to rest his big stars ahead of that Champions League last-16 with Valencia and one of those changes saw key striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic sit on the bench.
But after Jeremy Menez made the breakthrough on 51 minutes, the Swedish international stepped off the bench to add to the scoreline and notch his 21st goal of the season.
Wahbi Khazri's free-kick pulled one back for Bastia but it was the Parisians who held on.
In truth, the first 45 minutes of this one was not exactly brilliant but that may have been down to the fact that Ancelotti had given a number of fringe players the chance. David Beckham was unable to play as he continues to find full fitness back in London.
The Italian boss looked worried at half-time as his the scoreline stayed 0-0, however after a few stern words from the former Chelsea and AC Milan boss, his side came out in the second half in a positive manner.
Bastia nearly made a disastrous start to the second half as Sylvain Marchal almost turned Javier Pastore's cross past his own keeper but Mickael Landreau was thankful to see the ball hit the post and deflect wide.
Moments later and Landreau was called in to action once more as he pulled off a great save to deny Kevin Gameiro but 10 minutes later he gifted French international Jeremy Menez the first goal of the game.
Menez's 20-yard effort should have been easy enough to save but Landreau allowed the ball under his body and it was 1-0 to PSG.
Leading and now cruising, Ancelottie introduced Ibrahimovic and it would not be long until he found the back of the net.
Brazilian playmaker Lucas Moura fouled in the area and the big Swede stepped up to convert his 21st goal of the Ligue 1 season.
With the pointsnow in the bag, PSG took there foot of the gas but that allowed Khazri to silence the Parc des Princes with a superb free-kick and set up a tense final few minutes.
However, Ezequiel Lavezzi's late tap-in secured the win and means Carlo Ancelotti's men can now focus on their the first leg of the Champion League last-16 tie at the Mestalla on Tuesday.
