Real Madrid welcomed Sevilla to the Bernabeu on Saturday with one eye on the Champions League tie with Manchester United next week.
The home side began the game well having the better of the possession and they soon found themselves a goal up when Karim Benzema tapped home from close range following Cristiano Ronaldo’s low cross.
The former Manchester United winger is eager to face his former club and his performance against Unai Emery’s side will have his ex employees somwhat concerned.
Ronaldo fired in Madrid’s second shortly after with a sensational left-footed effort that easily beat young Sevilla keeper Beto.
The second half started with Ronaldo keen to add his second and he was gifted the chance by Federico Fazio shortly after the break, one which he took to make it 3-0.
Ronaldo then completed his hat-trick just after the hour mark after fine work from Gonzalo Higuain but the Argentine would be sent off shortly after for a foul on Coke.
However, Madrid’s lack of numbers was never going to allow Sevilla back in to the game even when Manu del Moral scored late on.
Hedwiges Maduro was also dismissed late on after a foul on Michael Essien.
Elsewhere on Saturday night, Deportivo La Coruna suffered another defeat as they crashed 3-0 to Granada.
