Sergio Ramos has been reported as one of the main reasons that Jose Mourinho is considering walking away from the Spanish champions this summer.
The story has transpired to the point where Mourinho has seemingly felt undervalued by those around him at the club, suggesting they are more inclined to look after their own, Madrid-born players than outsiders.
However, now that the threat of Mourinho’s departure has seriously materialised, Ramos has spoken out about apparent dressing room unrest, claiming it was all an invention of the media.
“It's more a case of things that people said that weren't true than a reality of conflicts in the dressing room - He's a great coach and we have been lucky to have had him. The decision is in his hands; he has to decide what he does. We're happy with him,” Ramos said as per the Guardian.
So what does it mean for all of the clubs that seemed to be positioning for an attempt to try and sign Mourinho in the summer?
Well, there is still a very good chance that he would walk away from the club, especially if they can get the better of Manchester United and push on to win the Champions League.
Mourinho has never made a habit at staying at a club for a Sir Alex Ferguson length of time which means he could be tempted into a new adventure at a club like Manchester City.
There’s still also a good chance he will go back to Chelsea considering that they will need a new manager once this season has finished.
Mourinho has recently talked about his passion and love for the West London club but the clash of egos and personalities which first caused problems is not going to go away.
Real Madrid would be silly not to try and keep him in place because there are few other managers out there who are good enough and strong enough to stay on top of such a massive club.
Most rumours start on some sort of basic truth and it wouldn’t be any surprise if Mourinho does have issues with several Real Madrid officials and players. However, common sense could win after all if he signs on.
What do you make of this? Will Mourinho stay in Madrid?
