Batman Arkham 3 coming this year

The third game in the hugely successful Batman Arkham series could be released later this year, according to Time Warner CFO John Martin.

Speaking at the Time Warner investment call, the exceutive explained that the company was due to have another good year, with a series of hotly anticipated titles, naming Rocksteady's Batman as one of them.

"And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013," he commented.

Batman Arkham Asylum was a surprise hit in 2009, shipping over 2.5 million units within a few months of release and eventually earning two BAFTAs, including Best Game and Gameplay.

This was followed up with smash-hit Batman: Arkham City in 2011, which smashed its predecessors sales record with over 4.6 million units shipped within the first week on sale.

"The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City,” said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios.

"The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.”
