We’ve taken a look at the possible FA Cup upsets ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
There were plenty of upsets in the last round of the FA Cup with Tottenham and Liverpool among the teams going out, not to mention Luton’s victory at Norwich City.
Here are the possible upsets as we see them for this weekend.
Luton v Millwall
Luton have been rewarded for their heroics against Norwich with a home tie against Millwall. This will be a feisty match considering the reputation of both sets of supporters. If Luton can start well and put the Championship club under some pressure, they could well steal a goal or two.
Arsenal v Blackburn Rovers
Arsenal will be the heavy favourites for this match but stranger things have happened in the competition this season. Blackburn are a big and strong established side. They will also benefit from the fact Arsenal are bound to rest key players ahead of their Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.
Oldham Athletic v Everton
Oldham are being rewarded for their heroics against Liverpool with a match against the other massive side from Merseyside. Everton may make a couple of changes but they could go in all guns blazing considering the way Oldham played in the last round, which was too good for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Chelsea v Brentford
This is a fourth round replay but Brentford will fancy their chances. The fact this is a London match means Brentford will take a lot of support and they have nothing to lose. They may as well go on the attack because if they sit back, Chelsea have the quality needed to pick them off.
Manchester City v Leeds United
Expect City to play a very strong team here considering their league position and the fact they’re out of Europe. Leeds will be going all out for a win and their recent away matches in the competition will give them the confidence that they can pull it off. Leeds have beaten Manchester United in the recent past.
Huddersfield Town v Wigan Athletic
Huddersfield have a great chance of causing what will be an upset because Wigan are a Premier League team. Huddersfield will fancy their chances of beating any team on their own ground despite the pace and quality which Wigan possess. If Huddersfield score first and early then it could be a long day for Wigan.
Manchester United v Reading
Right now Manchester United will be more concerned with the Premier League and the Champions League which can work in Reading’s advantage. United will make changes while Reading can go in at full strength and although they are underdogs, United will more than likely have one eye elsewhere.
How do you see these matches going?
