That simple reason is the fact his agent has confirmed that has been no official approach to him other than from the Old Trafford club and the other simple reason is that they don't really need him.
The Polish forward is a player who has been linked with United for several months, with many tipping him to have moved to the club last summer before the Robin Van Persie deal went through.
It means if Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sort out a transfer this summer, then he could do so pretty much an opposed by several other clubs who could benefit from having a striker of his quality in their squad.
“Many clubs follow the player, but really it is only specifically Manchester United - In June we'll see, but [a move to] Juventus is just a rumour. Nobody at the Italian club has talked to me,” his agent Cezary Kucharski told TalkSport.
Whether United actually want to go for him at the end of the season is another question entirely.
They are never going to get rid of Wayne Rooney or Van Persie in a million years. Javier Hernandez has continued to score goals for fun and Danny Welbeck is making himself indispensible to United.
Several United fans and officials will point to other areas of the team which need improving before another striker should even be considered, such as the midfield considering the pending retirements of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
There is also the fact that Pep Guardiola is about to take over at Bayern Munich and they could be a club who seriously want to go after a proven striker in the Bundesliga.
This could easily turn out to be a possible deal which passes United by because no one connected with United would want to get rid of any of the four current strikers available to Sir Alex Ferguson.
It would be madness for the club to let Hernandez or Welbeck leave so it’s just unfortunate that the literally ideal time to try and sign Lewandowski has come at a time for the club, when there is no space in the squad for him.
Signing Lewandowski means Fergie would have to let one of his current quartet go because United are not a side that can maintain a quintet of strikers and keep everyone happy.
If you’re a United fan, would you take Lewandowski over Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez or Welbeck?
