I am about to put forward an opinion which may not have Arsenal fans nodding or disagreeing in unison. For may not, read definitely not, as it's clear already that fans are firmly divided on the future of their manager.
Arsene Wenger must stay at Arsenal.
Forget talk of David Moyes coming in, a manager who has never won a trophy at Everton, or any top class bosses - who is available who would want the job?
Right now, while it's clear that ever since 2005, Arsene Wenger's 'trust in kids' methodology has been flawed to the point that key players have walked away from their disillusionment with it, there are signs he is getting it right.
On the pitch, presently he isn't - His first cup defeats to lower league opposition in his entire tenure as manager, plus a mixed league campaign which sees them in fifth, shows there is work to be done.
And Wenger seems to be getting it, for he is on a roll in the transfer market.
Say what you want about past flops like Park Chu-Young and Andre Santos - since that transfer deadline panic in 2011, he has displayed a knack of getting it spot on.
In the past 12 months - Arsenal have signed four players, all the right age, and all hits.
- Lukas Podolski, 27-years-old, and 12 goals for the club so far.
- Santi Cazorla, 28-years-old and nine goals for the Gunners.
- Olivier Giroud, 26-years-old and 14 goals.
- Nacho Monreal, 26-years-old and two clean sheets in three games.
Wenger is seemingly finally, after several years of mixed signings - see Gervinho and Chamakh - getting into his groove and buying top quality players and reasonable prices, who have the right ability, age, and international experience.
No longer can teams point to Arsenal and dismiss them as a 'bunch of kids' as Patrice Evra once did to a Fabregas-led Gunners. Yes the team has youth with Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott, but Wenger has injected a much-needed sprinkling of seasoned and top class professionals into the mix.
It's clear any new manager will not come in and win the league overnight; the teams in the Premier League are too far ahead of Arsenal at present and will continue to be next season.
Many will say Wenger has had enough time, but with this particular squad, he is just getting started, as seen by Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain and co all signing new long-term deals.
Wenger has earned the right to demand more time, and should be handed more money in the summer to go out and buy more players. He is currently four for four on recent signings being successes (some may argue with Giroud but it looks likely he will hit 20 goals in his debut season which can't be argued with).
Whether the club reach the top four or not, money will still be available, and needs to be from the board, and Wenger's recent success rate demands he be given an extra year to carry on rebuilding and adding quality players to the squad. With a reported £70 million at his disposal, Wenger can sign the players with the right quality the club need.
Yes he should have done it in the first place, but seeing as he is there now, why not allow him to keep on buying quality players and improve the team, and this time next season re-assess how he has done?
Arsenal fans, what do you think of Wenger's recent signings and should he be allowed to carry on spending? Or should he be sacked?
