John Terry has denied rumours of a rift with Rafa Benitez, and says he is happy to sit on the bench for Chelsea. There has been speculation the centre back has been unhappy with his lack of starts since returning from injury, but Terry has insisted he understands that other players have done well in his absence:
“I’m not silly, I’ve been out for four months — the other two guys have been playing really well, both scoring as well, so it is going to be difficult for me to get back in.
Benitez also scotched rumours of a fall out with his captain, saying he was surprised to see the speculation:
"It's totally rubbish. We didn't have any problem. We were talking about football with the team. He was training yesterday, we had normal conversations. Everything was fine. I was really surprised."
Reported Chelsea target Isco has said he would be prepared to leave Malaga if it would help the club’s financial situation. The 20 year old has said he is focussed on playing well for his side, but if a big offer came in then he would leave for the benefit of both Malaga and himself.
Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in the Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini, but as Dan Coombs points out on HITC today, their fans might not be delighted to have a man Jose Mourinho once branded as “loser” in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Also on HITC today, Jack Rau outlines the argument why Chelsea need to keep Romelu Lukaku at the club next season. Another player impressing on loan is Lucas Piazon, who was widely praised after a confident showing in first start for Malaga.
Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has said that he is looking to draw on Chelsea’s Champions League win last season as inspiration for his own side when they take on Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has praised David Luiz for coming to his team’s dressing room to apologise to Jack Reeves after a late challenge from the Brazilian defender saw the teenager unable to finish the match due to concussion.
Ian Wright had a less positive view of the incident, saying Luiz showed a “cowardly side” to his game in the incident. Wright also slammed Ashley Cole for allegedly diving during the match.
