Former Media Molecule stars Ambient Studios has released the first ten minuets of its strategy god-game Death Inc. for free as part of its Kickstarter efforts.
Tasked with taking on the role of freelance reaper Grim T. Livingstone, players will have to set loose a plague upon 17th century England in order to harvest souls as currency.
In the full game players will be able to use souls to unlock new challenges, skills, upgrades and special abilities.
Director and studio co-founder Jonny Hopper says he hopes that the demo will encourage people to chip in and help out its Kickstarter campaign.
“It requires a huge leap of faith to decide to back a game based on its concept art or launch video, particularly when that project is from a smaller, independent developer,” he explained. “But we believe Death Inc. is a title that Kickstarter was built for.
“We’ve made a good start, and had some tremendous endorsements – we’re hoping that the demo will convince anyone who’s currently undecided that Death Inc. is a game worth supporting."
