It’s been a long time coming, but finally the small things we do are coming into harmony with the big things we seek. I see this when I mention lunch.
“Yeah, now's good, let's go,” I get back.
“Where to? And what’s the rush?"
“What’s the rush? What’s the rush!?”
“I’ll tell you what the rush is.”
“We’ve got drinks to order.”
“We’ve got lunch to order.”
"And then we've got lives to live, people to call, reservations to make, museums to endow.
Plus we've got work to do.
And some of that work needs to get done today, even if it's Friday afternoon. Hurry up, we've got Andrew's drinks at 6."
My friend, Sam, puts it this way: "A year ago, I might have only spent Monday and Tuesday working on an acquisition, and then spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on alternatives, insurance, escape clauses. But not now. Now I'll spend all week on the acquisition plan, because I'm helping to build a new Euro."
The Euro, after holding through the worst of everything, began to slide. But now suddenly, the Euro itself appears to have become a rallying point, so to speak. Certainly Europe will have problems, but the Euro may not be one of them after all. We can look forward to a better Euro, and a better expense account.
