Demba Ba has said he is keen to nail down a first team spot at Chelsea, but understand there will always be competition for places at the biggest clubs. Ba has impressed since joining Chelsea, but is still regularly rotated with Fernando Torres, and the Senegalese striker said he expects that a new striker will join in the summer, and that competing with them will improve him as a player.
Thibaut Courtois has said he has no intention of leaving Chelsea, and that he hopes to replace Petr Cech between the sticks in a couple of years. The Belgian keeper also scotched rumours about him being involved in a deal for Falcao, saying the papers were guessing.
“A lot of things the press say are nonsense. They are guessing," said Courtois.
"They know Chelsea want Falcao but Chelsea have told me, 'The last thing we want to do is sell you'. Maybe they are lying to me but I don't think so.”
Rafa Benitez has indicated he would be interested in taking over in charge of Spain from Vicente Del Bosque, but insisted he was fully focussed on Chelsea at the moment. Del Bosque has led Spain to World Cup and European Championship success already, but might step down after the World Cup in 2014.
Chelsea fans will be hoping Benitez leaves the club well before then, but the man most want to see in charge at Stamford Bridge is refusing to rule out going to PSG instead. Jose Mourinho suggested he was unsure of exactly where he will go in the summer, with the French rumoured to be preparing a bumper offer to tempt him to Paris.
Benitez has also been making advances towards Mourinho’s current club Real Madrid, perhaps in the hope they will end up swapping managers with Chelsea at the end of the season.
Chelsea are reportedly ready to battle with a host of Premier League sides to try and sign the South Korean youngster Heung-Min Son. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United have all previously been linked with the Hamburg player, who could be available for around £10 million.
John Terry has urged Chelsea to offer Frank Lampard a new contract, saying that the midfielder still had plenty to offer and that he couldn’t imagine his long term teammate playing for another club.
