Spurs need a bit of attacking fire power and they have two options; go and buy someone or give a youth team player a chance.
Victor Zapata-Caicedo banged in a hat-trick against West Brom in Tottenham’s last Under-18 match which they won 4-0.
He is playing with older youths in that team and he has even appeared for the Under-21 side in their equivalent of the Premier League.
Raheem Sterling was thrown into the Liverpool team at the start of the season as a raw 17-year-old so Spurs could do a lot worse than giving Zapata-Caicedo a chance.
He’s got a Latino background hailing from Colombia but he has been raised in Hackney which means he’s a London boy through and through.
He knows the club and he could well relish any opportunity to get near the first team, which could be the case towards the end of the season if Spurs are secure in fourth place.
There’s no doubt it’s a massive gamble but Spurs are going to need to produce stars over the next few months and years if they are to maintain a constant level of high quality.
He has Under-21 performances under his belt so the next progression is more of the same, NextGen appearances and possibly a senior cameo.
There are talented forwards ahead of him in the queue; Obika, Coulthirst and Coulibaly but it shouldn't stop him from aiming big.
Andre Villas-Boas definitely needs to keep one eye on him to stop another London based club from smoking him out and trying to tempt him away from the club.
Spurs fans, would you give Victor Zapata-Caicedo a chance?
