Fabio Borini has had a very unfortunate and unlucky season with Liverpool after breaking his foot last year and dislocating his shoulder last weekend.
Despite the support the Anfield club have given the striker, he could have a way back to Italy this summer in the form of Fiorentina should he decide he wants to take it.
That point is the prospect of far less pressure than playing in the Premier League.
Liverpool have been bombarded from all angles at times this season with criticisms on the club, the players and the way the manager goes about coaching the team.
For a player at such a young age that can all be very intimidating and Borini has been given the chance to sit back and take it all in because of his injuries.
Far from being scared off by it all, he may not like the prospect of being criticised and hounded by the media and fans for one bad performance in a big match over a decent spell of consistency against smaller teams.
He may also want to maintain his international career with Italy, having made just one appearance for the side to date.
There can be little doubt that if he was playing in Italy, then his chances of doing just this would be dramatically enhanced.
He would be given the chance to compete alongside and against other players who want to get into the national team and if he can get the edge in terms of performance, he could be pulling on that blue shirt a lot more often.
He now has a very difficult choice to make because Liverpool will feel as though he owes them a bit of loyalty for the support provided while he’s been in the treatment room.
If Fiorentina come in with a decent sized bid for Borini then it could be difficult for the club to turn that down because of the break even point they are now trying to reach.
It could be one of the most interesting and possibly emotional transfers of the summer.
Liverpool fans, do you want Borini to stay?
