Microsoft could be planning to claim the limelight from Sony this April by announcing its next-generation Xbox console, according to reports.
CVG is claiming that inside industry sources, including some at Sony, told it that the next-generation machine will be unveiled by Microsoft within two months, as the company hopes to steal some of the PS4's thunder.
Citing a "senior Sony official", the report says that the well-telegraphed PS4 announcement "at first caught Microsoft off-guard".
The anonymous source added: "We definitely ruffled some feathers."
Sony's recent New York announcement event has dominated news sites since Wednesday, with speculation flying around what the console will end up looking like.
As reported earlier today, Hiroshi Kawano, president of Sony Computer Enterainment Japan, said that he hasn't seen a finalised design.
"If I'm being honest, I also haven’t seen its final design," he told 4Gamer. ."Even the controller we showed today, I saw the final design around yesterday or so.
