Rami is a man mountain of a centre-back, just the type of no-nonsense defender the Gunners are at times lacking, especially shown by their weakness defending corners and set pieces at times, which cost them the second goal against Bayern last week.
Rami plays for Valencia, and one of his key strengths is his heading ability, which helps at the other end too. At 27-years-old he is the type of experienced defender Arsenal would do well to add to their squad, and his wages would be less than the exiting duo of Squillaci and Djourou combined.
For £10 million, the fee would certainly be a fair one, for a defender at his peak who has 25 French international caps to his name, and already knows Laurent Koscielny from playing alongside him for France.
Valencia like Arsenal are in danger of missing out on Champions League football next year, also sitting fifth in their division, which may cause Rami to be open to a new adventure even though this is only his second season in Spain.
He does have experience against the very quintessential English footballing club and nemesis of Arsenal, Stoke City, when Valencia met Stoke in the Europa League last season - Rami helped the Spaniards keep two clean sheets, so that side of the English game certainly appears to hold no fear for him, as you would expect from a man nicknamed The Rock.
But perhaps the most exciting thing he can offer the Gunners is a penchant for the spectacular. He scored an amazing goal for Valencia from inside his own half earlier this season. You can watch it below. Simply incredible.
