Who were the winners at the Premier League Oscars?

Oscar season has now been and gone with Argo scooping the top prize as Best Picture of the 2013 Academy Awards.

But it got me thinking; could you apply some of the categories to the Premier League?

We have given it a go and will try explaining the different applications before announcing our winners.

Then you can choose to agree or disagree with our decisions.

Best Picture

Manchester City 3-2 QPR

This award is given to the best game of Premier League football in the last 12 months. There were many candidates and nominees for the award but undoubtedly there is one in particular that really caught the eye.

With a starring leading man performance from Sergio Aguero assisted by a supporting cast of Mario Balotelli and Joey Barton the award has to go to Manchester City vs QPR on the 13^th May 2012.

Best Actor

Ashley Young

Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez may feel aggrieved at losing out on this award but nobody has been more successful with their theatrics on a football field than Ashley Young.

Best Supporting Actor

Adam Le Fondre

This award goes for the player who has had the biggest impact as a substitute in the Premier League and is sometimes called the ‘Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’ award for the Norwegians dominance of the category in bygone times.

Edin Dzeko was the bookies favourite before the ceremony but Adam Le Fondre picks up his first Football Oscar after scoring important goals after coming off the bench under the direction of Brian McDermott.

Best Director

Roberto Mancini

This goes to the best manager of the past 12 months and is an extremely difficult award to give considering the massive competition for the gong.

Michael Laudrup, Roberto Di Matteo, Sir Alex Ferguson and Steve Clarke all deserve a mention but the way Roberto Mancini hauled back Manchester United to earn his club a maiden Premier League title deserves the respect it sometimes does not receive.

Best Cinematography

Swansea City

Thisaward goes to the team who has played the most attractive football in the past 12 months so congratulations to the Welsh side who have earned it with their style under both Brendan Rodgers and Michael Laudrup.

Best Editing

Michael Laudrup - Swansea City

This award goes to the manager who has done the best work in the transfer market and not many would rue giving Swansea their second award of the night as the tinkering Michael Laudrup has done with the team has been magnificent. Bringing in the likes of Michu, Jonathan De Guzman, Pablo Hernandez and Chico Flores has proved a master class.
