Brendan Rodgers has been under a lot of pressure so far this season, pressure which has caused for some sections of Liverpool supporters to call for his head.
If that was the case then the club may similarly have to try and appoint a manager until the end of the season, with that deal then being reviewed. Who would most irritate Liverpool fans?
Jose Mourinho
Mourinho has come up against Liverpool in some key battles against the Anfield club. He’s often voiced his criticisms at the way Liverpool play and how lucky their supporters have been throughout history. He was tipped as a potential boss before Kenny Dalglish was re-appointed which seems to have saved a lot of aggravation..
Sir Alex Ferguson
While in theory this would be a superb appointment, Liverpool fans would hate it because Fergie is in effect, Manchester United. United and Liverpool have one of the biggest sporting rivalries in global football so anything Fergie did which went wrong, the fans would be all over him.
David Moyes
David Moyes would not be a popular appointment because he is the current boss of Everton, Liverpool’s local rivals. Moyes has transformed Everton into a worthy foe for Liverpool and he would be under similar pressure to Ferguson, the very second he started making mistakes.
Sam Allardyce
Allardyce is a very efficient but simple manager. He has a clear tactical way of playing which does not fit in line with the way Liverpool have always liked to play and have always liked to dominate matches. It would also mean a possible return for Andy Carroll, creating simultaneous sighs around Liverpool.
Roy Hodgson
Yes it didn't end well at Anfield for poor old Roy, who will be remembered by many as the man who signed Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky. He has tried to make up for it by selecting as many Liverpool players as possible for England duty, but he isn't a manager fans would like to see back in the hotseat.
