In the murky world of football transfers it is sometimes very hard to know what exactly has transpired when a move falls through, especially when it involves hitherto unheard of youngsters.
Spurs have apparently kept tabs on Ba since then, but they now could face a significant fight if they to try and sign him again this summer. Sunderland reportedly made their interest known in the January window this year, with German Champions Borussia Dortmund also looking at the player, who has admitted before to being flattered by the interest shown in him.
Ba has impressed in his limited appearances for Le Havre in Ligue 2 this season, having become a regular in the side since the end of January.
With his club unlikely to achieve promotion this season, Ba might be happy to move on to pastures new come the summer, and he could be ready for a step up to a higher level in the Premier League.
Ba's fine performances in the French national youth teams adding to his reputation around the continent, and something that will make him even more attractive to potential suitors is that he can leave Le Havre on a free in the summer as the 19 year old is on a trainee contract at the French club.
This could well increase the competition for his services, as whilst Ba is far from the finished article, he has more than enough potential to be worth bringing in on a free.
Given Spurs' past interest, it would make sense for them to look at Ba again this summer, but they won’t be the only ones, and with the Bundesliga on the rise, if Dortmund join the chase then Premier League teams could struggle to convince Ba to come to England.
