Arsenal are ready to make an £8 million move for Swansea City captain Ashley Williams this summer. The Wales captain has been in incredible form this season as Swansea have flown high in the Premier League and also claimed their first ever piece of major silverware in winning the League Cup last month. It is believed the 28-year-old is also in demand form his former manager Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool and that Huw Jenkins at Swansea would demand at least £8 million for the technically outstanding centre back. Arsenal are keen to shore up their defence after continuingly poor performances from the likes of Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen.
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has put the boot in on his North London rivals by claiming that the game with Liverpool will provide more difficult opposition than Arsenal. Spurs face a tough tie with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and the French international captain believes that Liverpool are currently playing the best football in the league.
Emmanuel Frimpong seems to be one player going out of the door at Arsenal this summer. The combative midfielder is currently on loan at Craven Cottage but he has struggled to impose himself on the first-team at The Emirates when given his opportunities and with his contract expiring at the end of the season Arsene Wenger is happy to let him leave. He has impressed Martin Jol in his time across London and the Dutchman is ready to offer him a new contract.
Arsenal have recently been one of many teams linked with Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz but his side Galatasaray have placed a whopping price-tag on his head in an attempt to warn off potential suitors. The £35 million asking price is being seen as a ‘hands-off’ approach from the Istanbul side. Yilmaz is currently the joint leading goalscorer in the Champions League this season.
Arsenal and Spurs are being said to rival each other for the signing of Dutch international Jordy Clasie. The Feyenoord midfielder has been compared to Barcelona star Xavi for his playing style and has been a regular in the heart of the Rotterdam sides’ midfield this season.
Finally and Arsene Wenger believes Jack Wilshere should not feature in the European Under-21 Championships for England in Israel. It has been rumoured he could captain his nation at the competition but Wenger believes considering his recent injury troubles he should be excused in order to avoid burnout.
