With the World Cup in 2014 fast approaching, there have been indications that European clubs have found it harder to snap up the young talent from Brazil as easily as they have done in the past. Many of these players might feel that they are more likely to secure a place in the national team squad if they stay in Brazil, whilst certain superstars like Neymar face a lot of external pressure to at least remain in Brazil until after the World Cup.
However some players are naturally still moving to Europe, and those who have gone to Chelsea have found that they have been given the chance to shine on a huge stage, and become more important to the national side as a result.
With Oscar in particular demonstrating how the move can be a huge success, Chelsea might be able to try and pick up more Brazilian talent this summer.
According to some speculation, one player they have in mind is Atletico Miniero's Bernard. The 20 year midfielder has apparently been on their radar for some time, but his performances in recent months have brought him far wider attention, and Bernard is now beginning to be talked of as in the same bracket as Oscar and Neymar.
His excellent performances in the Brasileiro Serie A helped Atletico to finish second and qualify for the Copa Libertadores, and Bernard has already stood out in that competition by scoring a hat trick against Arsenal (the Argentinian club, unless the Arsene Wenger's quest for a trophy has seen him enter his team into tournaments in South America).
The 20-year-old also picked up his first cap for the national team last year, and is widely tipped to be a key man in their squad over the next few years.
Bernard is incredibly skilful, and with him seemingly on the brink of becoming a huge star around the world Chelsea might well look to make a move this summer. The Blues can point to the successful start Oscar has made at the club as an indication of what Bernard could achieve if he came to Stamford Bridge, and if Frank Lampard does leave, there might be a spot for a goal scoring midfielder in Chelsea's squad.
