Arsenal need to make some changes this summer if they are going to push on again next season. It’s become clear the club is short in one or two areas and the cash reserves the club have, means they can go out and pursue some decent transfers.
Value
Value is the most important thing Arsenal need to ensure they get, which shouldn’t be a problem as Arsene Wenger’s made a habit of this.
However, the fact their wealth has been well publicised means that any club with a player that Arsenal want, may stand their ground and hold the Gunners to ransom, holding out for prices which players simply may not be worth.
Patience
The worst possible thing that Arsenal could do this summer is panic buy to try and eradicate their problems. Again, this shouldn’t be a problem as Wenger has never shown a history of this.
Patience is key because there are going to be a lot of players available this summer and some may not become up for grabs straight away.
Desire
Arsenal need to go after players who show a desire to be at the club. This will be difficult because of the fact the club may not have Champions League football to fall back on next season.
Signing players with that desire to learn about Arsenal and play for the club ensures it will be easier to motive those players once they are in the building.
The Manager
Arsenal have to listen to the manager who has made some decent transfer decisions over the last few years. Wenger may want to go after some high profile players to make up for Arsenal’s shortcomings.
There has to be that level of trust there because Wenger will get very frustrated if he’s not allowed to go after the players he specifically thinks will take the side forward next season.
Precision
Precise and clinical signings are what’s needed for Arsenal. If they want a centre back, go after a top quality centre back, if they want another forward, they need to go after an out and out goalscorer.
They cannot bring in players with two or three different roles in the side in mind.
Arsenal fans, how do you think your club should approach the summer?
