Tottenham are still on the trail of Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo report the Daily Express, but face competition from Manchester City. Spurs were said to have held talks with Sevilla over signing the striker in January, and while they didn't amount to anything, Spurs are said to be interested and hope the carrot of Champions League football next year if secured could tempt the 27-year-old Spaniard. Negredo has 13 goals this season in La Liga and is valued at around the £15 million mark.
One striker already at Tottenham is Emmanuel Adebayor, but he is a major doubt for the clash with Inter Milan on Thursday in the Europa League. Adebayor missed training this morning and faces a race to be fit after sustaining a knee injury against Arsenal at the weekend. While fans may consider it ok because Jermain Defoe is fit, the drawback is whether Defoe is up to starting both the Inter game and the game against Liverpool which closely follows on Sunday.
The good news for Tottenham is that Moussa Dembele has been passed fit after being injury against Arsenal, and is available for selection tomorrow night. Adebayor has though been named in Spurs' provisional squad, which reads: Lloris, Friedel, Walker, Naughton, Gallas, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Holtby, Livermore, Dembele, Carroll, Parker, Bale, Sigurdsson, Defoe, Adebayor.
The Mirror are again reporting that Hugo Lloris is to make way for veteran Brad Friedel in goal.
Jermain Defoe has hailed the Spurs squad as the very best in all his time at the club, boosted by the winning mentality manager Andre Villas-Boas has instilled in the side.
AVB has laughed off Gareth Bale's trip to Old Trafford last night to watch United against Real Madrid, saying it was a great game of football and he had no problem with him attending, insisting he was fully aware in advance.
Joe Cole has admitted he wishes he had joined Spurs ahead of Liverpool back in 2010, admitting he had no passion to play for the Reds. He said he would have preferred to join Harry Redknapp and stay in London, but did not make the move because of his past connections with Chelsea and West Ham, and that it 'seemed a bit mercenary', but from a footballing choice it was right for him.
And finally with a bunch of unlikely transfer rumours doing the rounds this week, we have compiled the best of them, or the 'wildest' ones connected with Tottenham.
