Five transfers Chelsea will struggle to complete if they miss out on the Champions League

If they do, how will their summer transfer window be affected?

Radamel Falcao

The man Chelsea seem to covet above all other has an excellent relationship with the Europa League, but would be unlikely to want another season in Europe's secondary competition next year. Atletico Madrid will likely have a Champions League spot, as will rivals to his signature like Real Madrid and PSG, meaning Chelsea could struggle to pick up their main striker target if they fail to finish in the top four.

Isco

The brilliant young midfielder recently signed a new deal at Malaga, but will still likely be on the move come the summer with the Spanish club facing financial difficulties. Having impressed in the Champions League this season, Isco will want to feature in it again next year, and there will not be a shortage of clubs willing to offer him that option.

Robert Lewandowski

Another striker who could be on Chelsea's hit list this summer, Lewandowski has enjoyed an excellent season in the Champions League with Dortmund this season. The Polish striker is set to move in the summer, and with Bayern Munich rumoured to be interested, any other team would need to offer Champions League football to try and tempt him their way.

Marouane Fellaini

The imposing Belgian is only likely to leave Everton in order to appear in the Champions League, so if Chelsea slip into fifth, he could well end up at Manchester City or Manchester United rather than heading to London. With the Blues keen to find a goal scoring midfielder to replace Frank Lampard, missing out on Fellaini because of a lack of Champions League football would be a heavy blow.

Edinson Cavani

Along with Falcao and Lewandowski, Cavani is the other contender for the title of best number nine in the world, and another man that Chelsea could look to bring in this summer. Cavani impressed with Napoli in the Champions League two seasons ago, and after a year in the Europa League he will be keen to return to the top level of European football. Napoli will likely be able to offer that, as will a host of other clubs who are interested in the player, and Chelsea will need to be amongst them to tempt the Uruguayan to Stamford Bridge.
