Arsenal are not in action this weekend so no team news for the weekend but there is still plenty of news emanating from The Emirates this Friday.
First of all is the news that Arsenal are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper in the form of Pescara stopper Mattia Perin. The 20-year-old Italian has been in great form this season for the struggling Serie A outfit while on loan from Genoa. He is reportedly wanted by AC Milan to replace Christian Abiatti and Genoa are not currently blessed in regards to their finances. He would reportedly cost £17 million.
Santi Cazorla has been commenting on his first season at Arsenal admitting that the team has made too many mistakes and lacked consistency to the level required to sustain a credible season performance. He believes cutting out the basic errors from their game should see them returning to their best next season.
Paris Saint-Germain are continuing to be linked with a move for Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. It is widely believed that Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti may be moved on in the summer by the mega-rich Ligue 1 leaders and the board feel bringing in a French manager may quell some of the disquiet among the French press in regards to the team buying success. Wenger has been under the most severe pressure of his Arsenal career so far this season after a relatively poor campaign.
Arsenal have now categorically denied any potential takeover from a Middle Eastern consortium. It had been claimed that a £1.5 billion takeover was in the pipeline but Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has suggested that the rumour was a ‘waste of time’ before going on to confirm that majority shareholders Alisher Usmanov and Stan Kroenke would have no intention of selling their stakes at the club to anybody.
Arsenal have been linked with young French striker Yaya Sanogo of Auxerre. The 20-year-old striker is averaging a goal-a-game in Ligue 12 this season and it is believed that Wenger has already opened talks with the player’s representatives and his current club about a summer switch. We cast our own eye over his talents earlier today.
And finally it appears Manchester City are now the favourites to complete the signing of AZ Alkmaar playmaker Adam Maher. Arsenal were once thought to be the front-runners for his signature and the youngster is expected to leave at the end of the season after a poor campaign has seen AZ in a relegation dogfight in the Eredivisie.
