Arsenal had a near impossible task heading into their match with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, and it has now got that much harder.
Star midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has forced his way into becoming a first team regular once again after missing 14 months of action injured, has been ruled out.
The Telegraph have reported that Wilshere is not expected to make the trip to Germany, claiming he has 'been ruled out', with the Mirror also reporting the news, adding Lukas Podolski and Bacary Sagna are also out.
Arsene Wenger is expected to make a statement on the status of Wilshere tomorrow morning before the team fly out to Germany. The extent is so far unclear with some so far unverified rumours circulating that the midfielder could be out for the season.
Wilshere is said to have sustained the injury in the North London Derby and had been recuperating in Dubai.
Arsenal are 3-1 down from the home leg, and with Bayern in superb form, 20 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga it's fair to say not many are giving the Gunners much hope of qualifying for the last eight.
Here is how Arsenal supporters have been reacting to the news about Wilshere on Twitter:
No Wilshere v Bayern? Our chances just went from 0.000000000001% to 0.00000000000000001%. No biggie. #Arsenal

Ok so apparently its not Wenge'rs fault that Wilshere got injured. I suppose its Ramsey's fault

If these Jack Wilshere rumours are true then this is tragic news. Please be wrong! #AFC

We went a year without Wilshere ... sure we can go 90 minutes. Believe in the squad, not just one player. #Arsenal

Can't be dealing with Wilshere being out for the rest of the season. Time for Rosicky to save us like last year #LittleMozart
