Manchester United produced possibly their worst second half performance of the season against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final which means the teams will have to do it all over again at Stamford Bridge.
De Gea: 6 – Produced some superb saves to keep United in the game and got finger tips on Ramires’ equaliser, which was remarkable because he looked as though he had no chance of getting anywhere near the shot.
Rafael: 5 – Not his usual self going forward, which left the right winger isolated at times but his defensive work was fairly good throughout the game. Was left two on one at times.
Ferdinand: 6 – Was one of United’s better defenders during this game. Managed to get a couple of superb headers on the ball when it was floated into the United penalty area.
Evans: 5 – Similarly to Rafael, he looked off the pace which is surprising because he’s been in good form. Needed to take more time over clearances instead of giving the ball straight back to Chelsea.
Evra: 5 – Similar problems to the start of the season when United were conceding a lot of goals. Tucked in beside the centre backs when he needed to be wider, which gave any Chelsea player down the right all the time in the world to think and create.
Nani: 5 – Was doing fairly well up to the point that he had to go off because of injury. One of the only United players in the team prepared to pick up the ball and run at the opposition.
Carrick: 6 – Got stuck in, breaking up the play when Chelsea had the majority of the ball but was by no means at his best. Distribution was poor for someone of his quality on the ball.
Cleverley: 5 – Looked like a fish out of water in the second half with the Chelsea midfield quickly passing the ball around him and into the final third. Some wayward passing didn’t help.
Kagawa: 6 – Good work rate because he’s got good cardiovascular fitness, however, similarly to most other players in the United team, his passing was way off the level it is normally.
Rooney: 6 – Responded well to being dropped against Real Madrid and scored the second goal, which was a superbly delivered free kick that no one else got a touch on.
Hernandez: 6 – Did himself no harm at all with his performance. Taken off late in the second half but scored a brilliant header, which goes a long way to suggesting he’s the best finisher at the club.
Valencia: 4 – Terrible. Couldn’t pass to another red shirt, couldn’t send in any sort of decent cross into the penalty area and didn’t bust a gut getting back to help Rafael.
Van Persie: 5 – Held the ball up well but never had a chance to show how good he is at pouncing on any half chance.
Welbeck: N/A – Came on for 14 minutes, never really got into the game.
