Staged on a unique course through the City, 6,500 runners from nearly 400 companies representing the industries of banking, accountancy, insurance, law and the media are expected to register for the race.
Due to its popularity, priority places have been allocated for a limited period to those runners who have previously taken part in the race.
However, those wishing to participate for the first time can register their interest now and find out more about the race by visiting the official race website - www.cityrace.co.uk
This year £10 from every runner’s entry fee will go towards Seeing is Believing, a global initiative that tackles avoidable blindness and the race’s official beneficiary. All funds raised through the race will go towards an eye care project in Zambia. Standard Chartered has also committed to match every donation pound for pound, doubling the impact.
Richard Holmes, Standard Chartered Bank CEO Europe, said: 'The Standard Chartered Great City Race is a hugely popular occasion that we’re proud to be part of. We are encouraging everyone from across the City to swap their suits for shorts and support the race theme ‘Run for a Reason’ - so whether you’re looking to support a charity, build your fitness, improve the team ethic in the office or just enjoy a fun evening, we look forward to seeing you there on the 11th of July'.
