All ArticlesZoZuidas’s Posts
ZoZuidas was set up by three Amsterdam girls working as M&A lawyers and bankers in the Amsterdam equivalent of the City of London. In a European capital that is notorious for its free trade, business was soaring up until 2008. Unfortunately, the lowlands suffered deeply from the crisis. After three months of declining billables and all day Facebook marathons, they started to write about their habitat, looking busy, observing the crisis. For the Dutchies out there, you can follow them on www.zozuidas.blogspot.com, and read more stories about Amsterdam office live in their novel: Overwerk & Achterklap in de Amsterdamse kantoorjungle (Overtime & Backbiting in the Amsterdam Office Jungle).

Jan-Jaap and Rachid
Except for the black guy and the Chinese girl at the Benetton-style-recruitment brochures (where are they now?) the only non white Dutch people you see at big law firms are de Zwarte Pieten.

The Wedding Planner
After days - no, weeks - of anticipation, Kate & Wills finally tied the knot. I have to say, I am a bit sad that it’s over. I am a sucker for romance, and every common girl wants to be queen for a day.

Where Freaks Are Born
A friend of mine started to work for an internet company. He used to work in financial services, but switched because he hated the hierarchy and the insane bosses in this industry.

Busy Is A State of Mind
"Busy is a state of mind," says one of my managers, who clearly has followed a 'How to manage in a spiritual way' course. That’s why he takes time to meditate during the day, “to clear my head for five minutes”.

Paycheck? No Thank You.
The Zuidas thrives on fear. Fear of not meeting expectations. Fear of not keeping up. Fear of loss of income. Fear of financial obligations (sky-rocketing mortgage, anyone?).
