PHOTO: Courtois finally in Chelsea colours ... after three years

Thibaut Coutois

Thibaut Courtois was in attendance as Chelsea took on Vitesse Arnhem yesterday.

Yesterday saw Chelsea say goodbye to one precociously talented young Belgian - as bullish striker Romelu Lukaku was sold to Everton for a whopping fee in the region of £28 million.

But as Lukaku departed another long awaited Belgian star was finally wearing Chelsea colours.

Thibaut Courtois signed for Chelsea from KRC Genk back in July 2011. However he was almost immediately loaned to Atletico Madrid - as a replacement for the departing David De Gea.

What was originally a one year loan to act as back-up to Sergio Asenjo became a three year loan - in which Courtois became recognised as the best goalkeeper in Spain and one of the best in the world.

After winning La Liga, the Europa League, Copa del Rey and two Zamora Trophies his time at the Vicente Calderon is up - after Jose Mourinho decided he wanted Courtois to push Petr Cech for the first-team spot at Stamford Bridge.

And now, after three years, Courtois has finally been spotted in Chelsea colours.

The Blues took on Vitesse Arnhem yesterday evening and Courtois was snapped watching the game alongside Didier Drogba. He also stood for a rather uncomfortable looking selfie - which looked a bit like a primary school photo.

Jose Mourinho has now confirmed that Courtois should make his long-awaited Chelsea debut this weekend - with 45 minutes against Werder Bremen in the pipe-line.

Which is when, finally, Chelsea fans will get to see him in his full kit.

Is this Courtois' big season?
