Topping the bill was Janet Jackson, whose 45 minutes set cost the German bank a cool $17,700 a minute. And Janet apparently wasn't even first choice - The Black Eyed Peas are said to have been offered more, but couldn't be persuaded to do the gig.
The newspaper quotes Labour MP George Mudie (who's also deputy chair of the Treasury Select Committee, who said: 'This displays incredible insensitivity. Because of the past actions of bankers, people are going through such hard times trying to keep their homes and families together'.
A spokesperson for Deutsche Bank said: 'We hold events for clients from time to time, and choose convenient venues which allow us to re-invest our spending in the local economy'. And who would have thought that Janet Jackson went shopping in Watford High Street!
Deutsche has a history of getting top pop stars to client events, of course, allegedly paying Kylie Minogue $3.2m for a forty minute gig in a Spanish holiday resort in 2004. And in 2007 the bank's finest are said to have paid a cool $5.4m to The Rolling Stones to do an 80 minute set at a party organised at Spain's Catalan National Art Museum.
