Manchester United enter race for Arsenal striker target

Argentina Fans

Argentine Matias Suarez is one of Europe's most in-demand strikers, and Liverpool are also reportedly interested.

Anderlecht striker Suarez has a big decision to make this summer, and the race for his signature is just hotting up.

The forward had been linked previously with a move to Arsenal, but their pursuit of German international Lukas Podolski has seen their interest in Suarez pushed to one side.

His agent told the Daily Mail today that Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus are interested.

We can't see City going for a deal, as they already have the prolific John Guidetti to come back from Feyenoord next season.

Manchester United on the other hand seem likely to dispense with the services of Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov, meaning there will be a space in their squad for a fourth striker.

Leandro Damiao and Ricky van Wolfswinkel have previously been linked, but Suarez is a new name, and there would be a certain irony seeing a man named Suarez lining up for the club.

Liverpool on the other hand would surely love to have a double-pronged Suarez strikeforce. Matias Suarez can also play out wide, which would mean he could play off frontman Andy Carroll with ease, and give the club a threat from the wing they have lacked this season.

He is 23 and has broken through at Belgian club Anderlecht following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

His record in the Europa League this season saw him enter the winter break as top-scorer, with seven goals in eight games.

He is valued at around £10 million, making him a great value proposition for England's top clubs.

Both Barcelona and Everton are among teams previously linked with signing him, although Arsenal have long been favourites.
