Arsenal latest: Including Pique and Park

Park Chu Young

All the news and gossip surrounding Arsenal FC from the past 24 hours.

Two deals that were supposedly wrapped up weeks ago have finally been confirmed by the club themselves with Arsenal now announcing their respective departures. Yahoo sports report that Carlos Vela has agreed to finally move on to Real Sociedad after a successful stint on loan at the San Sebastian club last season, ending a 7 year stay with The Gunners. Whilst Oguzhan Ozyakup has moved on after failing to make an impact at the club after his 2008 arrival from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Now he has agreed to move back to his homeland in an undisclosed deal, signing for Besiktas, reports ESPN.

Park Chu Young has been told to find a new club, according to The Metro today. The South Korean, who has just participated at the Olympic Games has cost the Gunners £5million pound in fees – including a £2million deal to prevent him from military service in his homeland. He has failed to make an impact and is now being courted by Blackburn and Al Hilal as Arsenal try to trim the wage bill after a summer of spending.

The same story also carries news of reported interest in fellow Arsenal flop Sebastien Squillaci. The Frenchman has failed to live up to expectations since joining from Sevilla in 2010 and a deal is being struck with Greek side Olympiakos and would be a perfect birthday present for Seb, who is 32 tomorrow.

Goal.com leads with Gerard Pique’s tales of admiration for coveted Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song. Arsenal are reluctant to sell the midfielder but Barcelona want him as a replacement for the departing Seydou Keita. Pique believes he would be a great addition to the Catalan giants and admits he would love to play alongside him, in yet another public display of affection that will surely frustrate Arsene Wenger.

Meanwhile Ki Seung Yeung is now being chased by Atletico Madrid as interest in the South Korean midfielder heightens. Arsenal have reportedly been interested in the Celtic midfielder but he has expressed a desire to play in La Liga and therefore Athletico may have the edge in a transfer battle. He is also wanted by QPR, Fulham and a wealth of Russian teams.

Two Arsenal players will be on England duty next week in a friendly against Italy after being included in an experimental Roy Hodgson side. Alex Oxlade – Chamberlain and Theo Walcott have been called up for duty whilst Aaron Ramsey is also required to report for duty with Wales.
