All the news and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur in the past 24 hours.
Younes Kaboul is out of Tottenham's home game with West Brom this weekend, the club have confirmed on their official site. He is set for a scan on his knee to find out the extent of the injury but hopes to be back as soon as possible. Gio Dos Santos is also a doubt and the game comes too soon for Scott Parker to make his return.
Rafael Van Der Vaart may still be set for a shock exit from White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. The Telegraph report that the Dutch international is keen on a move to secure first team football and would enjoy a return to the club that helped shape his career during a 3 year stint. Currently the £9.5 million asking price would be too much for the German outfit but they are working on a deal to see the 100 cap Dutchman return to the Bundesliga.
More now on the protracted transfer negotiations of Leandro Damiao of Internacional and a potential move to White Hart Lane courtesy of the Daily Mail. Spurs are reportedly offering £20 million pound for the young Brazilian marksman in a ‘take it or leave it’ scenario after becoming frustrated with consistent refusals from the Brazilian outfit over a potential deal. If a deal was agreed it would pave the way for Jermain Defoe to potentially join Michael Dawson at QPR. However AVB has played down a move for a new striker after Adebayor's arrival.
Spurs appear to be losing out in the race to sign Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar from Inter Milan. The custodian was once considered the world’s best but has lost his place to Slovenian international Samir Handanovic since his arrival from Udinese. QPR have now joined the race for the 32 year old to provide serious competition to Robert Green after his worryingly hapless display against Swansea.
Another keeper who definitely won’t be joining Spurs this summer is French captain and number 1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. His club Lyon has confirmed that the stopper is committed to Lyon for the current season after a deal fell apart over a difference in prices on opposite sides of the negotiation table, however a deal could be resurrected as soon as Luka Modric’s move to Real Madrid is finally confirmed.
However Real Madrid have made a comical blunder on that issue, after a profile was posted on the official website stating Modric was a Madrid player despite no deal yet being finalized. The capital club blamed the error on hackers but it was too late as the blurb had been spotted and shared across the internet leaving officials at the club slightly pink faced.
Finally, Tottenham’s youngsters got off to a winning start in the NextGen competition beating Wolfsburg 3-2 in Germany with goals from Shaquille Coulthirst, Ruben Lameiras and Alex Pritchard. Read our report here.
