Manchester City have become the most fashionable team in England

Hugo Boss Suit

Not in terms of increased fanbase, however that might be true, but genuinely fashion as they sign a partnership with the gaffer, Roberto Mancini's, favoured Hugo Boss brand.

Now I don’t mean this in the sense that in 10 years’ time there will be thousands of ‘new’ City fans from London to Tokyo (although that might be true) but more that Manchester City have signed a deal with German company Hugo Boss to be their official partner when it comes to the suit department.

While Roberto Mancini has been looking rather suave and sharp since he first arrived in Greater Manchester, with or without the hooped scarf, obviously the feeling is the players themselves could do with a little bit of TLC.

While you might expect Roberto to be clad in Giorgio Armani head-to-toe the Italian much prefers the German brand to his own nationally iconic suit-makers and is believed to have been very influential in the hiring of the company.

The UK Managing Director, Bernd Hake has mentioned that Manchester City’s players are ‘style icons both on and off the pitch’ and while Bernd may be write with the on-pitch remarks, as City do play some pretty slick and exciting stuff when they get into fourth gear, not to mention fifth but I am not sure about off it.

Bernd might want to see some of the questionable attire and outfits that Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez sometime adorn themselves in and think about placing them in a catalogue or in a centre-piece window display.

This new deal must mean City expect a few more cup finals in the coming years, and fair play to them to thinking ahead…they would not want to end up in the infamous ‘ecru’ Emporio Armani monstrosity that Liverpool walked out in for the FA Cup Final of 1996.

While Jamie Redknapp and David James might have just about pulled it off the same cannot be said for the likes of John Barnes and Neil Ruddock; who looked particularly ridiculous in their Gareth Gates get-ups.

At least Manchester City won’t be making that mistake.
