Bright start for Thorgan Hazard on loan in Belgium

Chelsea Pride Of London

Chelsea starlet Thorgan Hazard kicked his loan spell into action at the weekend by providing his first goals of the campaign.

Right now Thorgan is going to have to live with the tag of being 'the other Hazard' but his brother Eden has put the football world on notice by insisting his younger sibling has the potential to become even better

After shelling out the highest transfer fee in the Premier League this summer at £32 million on Eden Hazard, Chelsea took no chances and acted swiftly to snap up Thorgan Hazard too, potentially saving themselves millions down the line.

At just 19, there was little chance of the youngster featuring in the Chelsea first team this season, and elected to send him out on loan. His destination? Little heralded Belgian club Zulte-Waregem, who play at the Regenboonstadion and finished 13th in the Belgian Jupiler League last season.

It may not have the glamour of Chelsea, but the loan is seen as a necessary step in getting him ready for Stamford Bridge, allowing him to hone his skills in a competitive environment.

The winger made his debut in mid-September in a 1-0 win over Leuven, before featuring in a 3-2 loss against Anderlecht. But it was this past weekend against Lierse where he made a big impression.

Zulte-Waregem faced Lierse away from home, and switched Hazard to the left side of the attack, rather than through the middle where he had played the previous two games.

The switch reaped its reward as Hazad provided two assists, inspiring his side to a 4-1 win, and helping striker Habib Habibou grab a hat-trick.

Fans on a Belgian Football website rated Hazard's performance at 9/10, a sure sign they are impressed, in only his third match for the club.

Zulte-Waregem are now flying in fourth, above expectation. Hazard's challenge is to help them maintain that position. The other important factor to note is that he has played 90 minutes in all three matches, exactly what Chelsea wanted.

So far so good, a bright start bodes well for his season ahead, Chelsea may just have another gem on their hands.

And here's a thought, there is another potential Hazard on thew way, a third brother Kylian Hazard, 16, is on the books of Lille. Don't rule out Chelsea snapping him up...
