Newcastle are one of three clubs linked with signing Dutch under-21 winger Yanic Wildschut. The attacker plays for VVV Venlo at is valued at around £3 million. Sky Sports report that Swansea and Fulham are also monitoring the former Ajax youngster.

However Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias has told fans not to expect big name signings in the January transfer window. He discussed how players at the club have been coded by their ability, and he feels there are already enough elite stars, that any signings will effectively be cover, rather than established stars who could rock the boat.

Alan Pardew is hoping for a fitness boost regarding Yohan Cabaye ahead of next weekend's Tyne-Wear derby. The creative midfielder is set to miss France's international friendly with Japan tonight after complaining of an abdominal injury, and his club are desperately hoping the player will make a swift recovery.

Jonas Gutierrez has said he expects fellow Argentine Fabricio Coloccini will be fit for next week's match. He says he expect him to return to training next Wednesday and give the club a major boost.

He is also hoping Cheik Tiote goes easy on the Senegal pair of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, when the clubmates go head-to-head in their vital African Nations Cup qualifier this weekend. However the midfielder says he will be putting friendship firmly to one side for the clash.

Slovenian international Haris Vuckic is still reeling from his latest injury blow, which will rule him out for the rest of the season. Boss Alan Pardew commented that the player is at a 'low ebb' and found his cruciate injury 'traumatic' and now faces a lengthy recovery, but tipped the 20-year-old to bounce back.

Meanwhile Newcastle are offering tickets for their next Europa League homegame against Club Brugges for as little as £5. The details are on the club's official website.
