Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand trained as per normal with the rest of the squad ahead of the Champions League game against Braga. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said he would ‘deal with Ferdinand’ after the defender boycotted wearing the ‘Kick it Out’ campaign t-shirt before the match against Stoke over the weekend.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has said the club need to progress to the last 16 of the Champions League as quickly as possible. Carrick states that early qualification will help the side in their bid to win back the Premier League trophy from rivals Manchester City.

Atletico Madrid have identified Javier Hernandez as a replacement for Falcao if he is sold in January as expected. Manchester City and Chelsea are both reportedly interested in signing Falcao and Atletico Madrid could target Hernandez as his replacement as the Mexican is not first choice at Old Trafford.

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has hailed the growing relationship between himself and Wayne Rooney. The pair have combined well in recent matches to become one of the best strike partnerships in the Premier League. Both players were on the score sheet in the win against Stoke City.

Klass Jan Huntelaar has put Manchester United on red alert after postponing new contract talks with Schalke. Huntelaar has been linked with United in the recent past and he could become a United striker if Javier Hernandez is moved on in January with the Mexican being linked to Atletico Madrid.

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has been named as reserve team boss by Sir Alex Ferguson so that he can gain experience for his coaching career. Butt was a main stay in the United side for most of the time he was a United player before a move to Newcastle towards the end of his playing career.

Russian club Anzhi are interested in a deal to sign Manchester United target Nico Gaitan. Anzhi are one of the richest clubs in the world and United may not be able to compete with the Russian side for the Benfica play maker if they make a move for him in the January transfer window.

Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone says he has no desire to leave the club and insists he will compete for the number one spot. Johnstone is a 19-year-old goalkeeper on the books at the club who has thrown down a challenge to himself to make the United first team regularly over the coming seasons.
