Arsenal transfer rumours: The four players who can bring goals to The Emirates

Huntelaar

A Newcastle United striker, Fiorentina forward, Shakhtar's devastating Armenian that tore Chelsea apart and the man who sunk The Gunners in the Champions League are all potential options for The Gunners in January.

So far this season Arsenal have performed well for large parts of the season but it has been their attacking options that have appeared impotent. Olivier Giroud needs to bed in to English football and even then he doesn’t look like somebody who will bag goals galore at this level.

While Arsenal have a history for being cash-shy they do have plenty of finances available, the result of astute financial dealings over the past decade. The fans now want to see that invested in a centre-forward who can rival the goal-scoring records of Ian Wright, Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie. The recent AGM saw these frustrations being vented in full force.

Wright thinks they should move for Edison Cavani of Napoli, Fernando Llorente has been linked and Karim Benzema is another potential signing. In a hypothetical world where Arsenal spend their money they could have anything up to £30 million available in January. This led to speculation over an approach for Falcao but who else should Arsenal be keeping tabs on?

Klaas Jan Huntelaar

He bagged a goal against The Gunners for current club Schalke 04 and his contract is dwindling toward expiry in the summer in a similar fashion to Theo Walcott. Schalke do not want to let him go but will be tempted to cash in on any bid during January. The 29-year-old target man may not be what Wenger is looking for.

Stevan Jovetic

Somebody has to move for the powerful forward and he would suit the Arsenal game. Juventus and Manchester City are also reportedly keen but is he a player to lead the line? Perhaps not.

Demba Ba

The news that the Senegalese marksman still has a release clause in his contract would have been welcomed by the Arsenal faithful. The striker has proven himself in the Premier League at both West Ham and Newcastle United and would be an absolute snip at £7 million. One thing he would definitely bring to The Emirates is goals.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

This might not please Arsenal fans as again he seems more of a project then a finished article. However the Armenian looked near the polished product as he gave Chelsea’s defenders the run-around with an astute performance of technical prowess leading the front-line. He scores goals as well as he currently sits with the elite of Ronaldo, Messi and Zlatan in the European Golden boot race with 14 goals in 13 games.

Out of the four a move for Demba Ba must be the optimum transfer while Mkhitaryan cannot be discounted for the future; the likelihood remains that they are much likelier signings then the likes of Falcao, Benzema or Cavani.

Or perhaps they don't need any one after all. Chamakh anyone?

Who would you like to see arriving at The Emirates in January?
