Is that it for Joe Cole at Liverpool?

Joe Cole Liverpool

Liverpool gave Joe Cole a chance against Swansea, but he failed to impress.

Joe Cole's chances of a Liverpool future appear to be getting slimmer by the day.

As time ticks down to the January transfer window, the amount of time he has left to impress and show he should not be sold or loaned out in the next transfer window ticks down.

After signing in 2010, his career at Anfield has been disappointing, and last night's defeat to Swansea was emblematic of that.

An injury had delayed his progress this season, but even upon getting fit, in his limited opportunities he has failed to make an impact, and manager Brendan Rodgers appeared frustrated with him after last night's match.

"The club have invested an astronomical amount of money on a talented player and Joe had the opportunity,'

'He has been back fit a couple of weeks and his opportunities have been limited but you have to see.

'I thought it was difficult for him, it was too slow and it wasn't what I would expect from a team I tried to set up to be dynamic.'

With Liverpool's striking problems and injuries, the club are having to rely on youngsters Raheem Sterling and Suso to provide the necessary spark in attack to support Luis Suarez.

Rodgers is wisely bearing in mind potential burnout with regard to both players, and needs help from others. A fit and on form Joe Cole would be a godsend right now, but the player just can't get it right.

Perhaps he feels too under pressure and cracks under the strain, or perhaps he is simply no longer good enough.

Either way his time is ticking down. We wouldn't say that's it for him just yet, Liverpool will need to call on him again between now and January as they look to balance Premier League and Europa League football.

He has just two months to save his Liverpool career.

Should Liverpool give Cole more chances or is your mind made up, should Liverpool sell him?
