Fans react to Liverpool rejects' performances against Manchester City

Ryan Babel

Christian Poulsen and Ryan Babel both featured for Ajax against Manchester City in the Champions League last night. How did those on Twitter react to their performances?

Manchester City drew 2-2 with Ajax Amsterdam at The Etihad last night and they would have felt hard done by after several refereeing decisions went against them in the fixture; however anything but a draw would have been unfair on an Ajax side who dominated possession for large portions of the fixture.

In the Ajax team that faced off against Mancini’s men were two former Liverpool flops, Ryan Babel and Christian Poulsen.

Babel was signed for a whopping £11.5million but struggled to make a significant impact at Anfield and moved on in January last year to German outfit Hoffenheim.

Christian Poulsen had an even more incredulous stint on Merseyside. Acquired in 2010 for £4.5million the Danish international lasted just one season at the club before Kenny Dalglish moved him on to French side Evian in August 2011.

Both players played well in the fixture, especially Poulsen; the former Juventus midfielder played a vital role in breaking down attacks until he tired late on and was replaced by fellow Dane and hot prospect Viktor Fischer.

Here is the Twitter reaction to their performances….
