There's a lesson here somewhere.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Barclays has dismissed a senior Singapore-based banker after a video surfaced on the Internet showing him in an expletive-laced tirade at a construction site adjacent to his home.

The firing of Olivier Desbarres, former head of FX strategy for Asia Pacific excluding Japan at Barclays, was first reported by the Times’ City Diary blog. A former colleague confirmed to the newspaper that the banker was shown the door after Barclays executives viewed the clip.

The banker's rant, during which he throws a sheet of zinc in the direction of construction workers, was captured on a mobile phone and has been doing the rounds virally (see below):

Foul-mouth foreigner threatens workers and warns he will hunt down their families (the video link is just above the images).

The profanities have been bleeped out.

The Times has a part of the transcript:

'I’m gonna go after you. I’m gonna burn your f..cking house down'.

'You have no respect. You know what ? You’re f..cking animals. Chinese f..cking animals... I have a life. I have a family. You break that, I will find your f..cking family. I can find it very easily - I’m a man with resources'.

Once he realises that he is being filmed, the former trader shouts:

'You’re filming me ? You think that’s good ? Put your f..cking phone down because I’m going to wait for you to come out and take that phone and shove it up your f..cking ass'.

Singapore police are now thought to be investigating the matter.
