Joey Barton rants on Twitter over 'mercenary' Premier League

Joey Barton Interview

In light of the Chelsea managerial chaos which saw Roberto Di Matteo sacked after the 3-0 defeat to Juventus the former Newcastle United and QPR player blasted the Premier League and spoke of an 'English football revolution' on Twitter. Do you see where he is coming from?

Well there is little surprise to see that Joseph Barton has an opinion on the Chelsea managerial situation and he has used Twitter to vent his frustration on the matter. While he openly admitted he was not surprised at the sacking it led to a broader rant on the state of the English game.

Love him or hate him the current Marseille loanee is more often than not upfront and honest with his views even if many would not want to hear them and this occasion was no different. He spoke of his frustration at how football was no longer the people’s game and that the Premier League was overrun with ‘mercenaries’.

On some level you can agree with the former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder on the idea of an ‘English football revolution’. As ticket prices soar across the country many fans are left dejected at the cost of following their team and in that respect he may have a point.

While I stop short of agreeing entirely with what Barton had to say it was still an interesting rant. So here are the Tweets in question…

What do you think of Barton’s latest Twitter interactions?
