Friedel Spurs

Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City, QPR, Southampton, Manchester City and West Ham are all the talk of the papers today.

All the transfer news and gossip you need to know from the past 24 hours...

Brad Friedel could be set to walk away from the controversial Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeping situation. The American is a target for Blackburn, with reports new manager Henning Berg is even trying to get the stopper on loan as soon as this week. If the loan move is unsuccessful, there is every chance Rovers will go back in for Friedel in January, paving the way for Hugo Lloris to take the number one jersey.

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is another in-demand shot-stopper. The Bosnian international has emerged as a surprise target for Liverpool, as Brendan Rodgers seeks to find alternatives to Pepe Reina. Yet a report in the Sun says Manchester United also have 25-year-old Begovic on their radar, while Liverpool are also eyeing Jack Butland of Birmingham.

QPR are looking at making another signing, say the Mirror, and its another attacker on their shortlist. The player in question is former AC Milan player Yoan Gouffran. His contract is expiring in the summer, and Bordeaux could be prepared to cash in during the transfer window.  QPR are looking for cover in attack after the latest injury suffered by Bobby Zamora which will keep him out of action for three months. Meanwhile, Former QPR midfielder Akos Buszaky has signed with Barnsley on loan from Portsmouth.

Southampton are reported to be preparing to spend big again in January, with Blackpool winger Matt Phillips a target. Phillips is reported to be valued at £5.5 million; but the Saints will have to see of interest from Swansea City, who are also interested in bringing the player back to the Premier League.

Manchester City are keen on signing 16-year-old Croatian Alen Halilovic, predictably compared to Luka Modric. The teenager is already part of the Dinamo Zagreb first team, and the champions are keen on clinching a £7 million deal.

West Ham are serious about their interest in David Beckham. The Hammers are ready to approach the former England captain, who will leave LA Galaxy in December. Sam Allardyce has stated he would welcome the chance to work with Beckham, but would want to see him prove his fitness first and show he still has what it takes to play in the Premier League.
