Mourinho, Grant, Ancelotti, AVB and Di Matteo have all come and gone at Chelsea, who has been treated the worst?
Let us refresh your memory on Chelsea's recent long list of former managers...
Roberto Di Matteo
Di Matteo has to be top of the list when it comes to Chelsea managers axed ruthlessly by Roman Abramovich. A Champions League title, four points off the top of the Premier League, chances of success in two domestic cup competitions. Sorry, not good enough.
Mourinho is Chelsea’s most successful boos in living memory. He guided the side to back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006. He won the FA Cup and the League Cup in 2006/2007 and was then shown the exit door following a number of disagreements with the Russian owner. He then went onto win two Serie A titles and a Champions League at Inter Milan and a La Liga title with Real Madrid. The worst mistake Chelsea ever made?
Signed a three-year deal in the summer of 2011 and he was gone less than a year later. Never really stood a chance at the club as Abramovich pandered to his senior players who never got on with the Portuguese coach. Bear in mind he did the early work during Chelsea’s European Cup winning season. He was subsequently snapped up by Spurs who put him on a three-year deal.
Grant guided Chelsea into the 2008 Champions League final where they were only a John Terry penalty away from securing the glory. Needless to say Terry fell flat on his backside, United won the trophy and Grant was told to leave the building and turn off the lights just three days later. Grant is now managing Partizan Belgrade.
The Italian won the double at the end of the 2009/2010 season before chaos followed during the 2010/2011 campaign. Chelsea spent £50 million on a certain Fernando Torres, a signing Ancelotti didn’t want, he was sacked with two games of the season to go with his team only a few points away from first place. Ancelotti is currently heading the PSG revolution just the other side of the channel in France.
Who do you think was most harshly done by?
