Premier League predictions ahead of the weekend fixtures

Chelsea V Manchester City

Sunderland, Everton, Manchester United, Stoke City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea grab wins while Reading, Wigan Athletic, Tottenham, West Ham, Southampton and Newcastle have to settle for draws as we look into our crystal ball ahead of the weekend.

Here they are...

Sunderland v West Brom: 2-1

After victory against Fulham last weekend Sunderland should be on a high which will also be the case for the in-form West Brom. Going simply with a hunch on this one that backed by home advantage Sunderland can cause a mini-upset in the midday fixture.

Everton v Norwich: 2-0

Norwich have improved greatly in recent weeks with victories over Arsenal and Manchester United. Those both came at Carrow Road but Everton have a mini-injury crisis to deal with and Maraoune Fellaini out suspended. They have also struggled to finish teams off in recent weeks so this one could be tight. I am still going for an Everton win despite all that logical thinking.

Manchester United v QPR: 4-0

Most people should surely fear the worst for QPR at Old Trafford this weekend. Mark Hughes being sacked the day before leaves the game in the hands of his assistants who will likely be out of a job when the waiting in the wings Harry Redknapp arrives with his coaching crew. Whats left is a demoralised, confused group of players and coaches against Manchester United. Only one result here.

Stoke v Fulham: 1-0

With Brede Hangeland in the team Fulham might have been able to grab something at the Britannia however after his red-card and subsequent suspension now the picture looks less rosy; Stoke win.

Wigan Athletic v Reading: 1-1

Reading will feel electrified by their performance against Everton last weekend and Wigan have a mini injury crisis ahead of the fixture. While I stop short of suggesting The Biscuitmen might grab all three points at the DW a draw does not seem beyond the realms of possibility.

Aston Villa v Arsenal: 2-3

Not entirely sure why but I just see goals in this game. Arsenal should come out on top in what could be a pulsating encounter at Villa Park.

Swansea v Liverpool: 1-3

Brendan Rodgers returns to Swansea with a Liverpool team in form. While he admits their game plan has changed since his departure there is little doubt he will be backing his stooges to conquer his former club.

Southampton v Newcastle: 2-2

Finally grabbed another win with a breath-taking performance at Loftus Road last week and that should give Southampton hope ahead of Newcastle’s trip to the south-coast. However their defence still looks too leaky not to concede against a team with Newcastle’s attacking options.

Chelsea v Manchester City: 2-1

Rafa Benitez is in and why not gamble on the fairy-tale beginning. Fans could be cheering his name if Chelsea topple the Champions at The Bridge. Fernando Torres to score the winner? Why not this is football after all.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United: 1-1

A great derby match this one and the way West Ham are playing they will certainly be giving as good as they get against AVB’s Spurs side. Think their physical presence may prove, in the words of Hard-Fi ‘hard to beat’ so going with a score draw at The Lane.
