It's getting to be that time of year again: a time for giving, a time for receiving. More importantly, it's time for your bonus.
Though for many, numbers might be down, for others they'll hold steady. And for the luckiest, a new car will be in the picture. Ergo, we bring you five options to help you celebrate yet another year of hard work well done. We've got something for everyone, so let's get started.
Audi is always a good place to start when it comes to high-end cars. Few lists of luxurious cars would omit Audi these days. The S7 packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 rated at 420 hp, combined with a seven speed dual clutch automated manual transmission.
The interior is made of the finest quality materials, with fine wood inlays available in the dashboard, leather upholstery, power seats, a Google Earth-based navigation system, with Wi-Fi capability and a premium Bose audio sound system.
While many associate the Audi brand with a large SUV like the Q5 and Q7, the Audi S7 is fuel efficient for those who care about those kinds of things. But with prices starting at £40,990, this isn't the sort of car you should be buying if you're worried about running costs.
From the other side of the pond comes the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 convertible. Powered by a 505 HP 7.0-litre 427 cubic inch engine, the designers at Chevrolet have created the fastest and most capable convertible in Corvette's history.
This car can do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, with a top end speed in excess of 190 MPH. An arctic white finish on the exterior is featured on the 60th anniversary package, which also features a blue diamond leather wrapped interior with suede accents.
GM says the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible "represents the first time a Collector Edition and Anniversary Edition are being offered in the same year, and available on the same car".
The first one of these sold for $600,000, making this the most expensive car on our list -- by a lot.
It's difficult to have a list of luxury cars without including a Mercedes. The Mercedes-Benz E class has successfully mixed comfort, performance and safety for a generation.
Mercedes offers three different body styles, and power plants ranging from fuel-efficient to ultrahigh performance. Simply put, there is a Mercedes E class for everyone. That is, of course, if you have the financial resources to purchase one.
Mercedes is perfect for the young up-and-coming businessman or businesswoman, offering luxury, performance, safety, and a bit of prestige. Prices start at £29,125.00 and range up to £74,920.00 for the top-of-the-line E 63 AMG.
The 2013 Jaguar XF is inspired by Jaguar's prestigious design history, but combines those famous body lines with the more modern styling of today's sedans.
Not only is the XF easy on the eyes, but like all Jaguar models it is generously equipped. Th XF comes in four different trims: XF, XF Portfolio, XF Supercharged and XFR. The Bowers & Wilkins sound system that was included in the Portfolio trim level is worth the extra money all by itself.
The XF and the XF portfolio are powered by a 5.0-litre V8 producing 385 horsepower. Should you require more power, the supercharged model features 470 horsepower. Still feel a need for more speed? Then order the 510 horsepower XFR.
The XF is pure performance, and compared with some other luxury models has a modest starting price of £24,375.00 for the XF 2.2-litre Diesel SE 163PS, working up to £65,380.00 for the XF 5.0-litre V8 Petrol SC XFR 510PS.
We've added the Fisker Karma to our list for one reason that has nothing to do with its fuel economy or the fact that it is a hybrid. While all those things are well and good, we just like the way this one looks.
The Karma is aerodynamic looking to be sure, and at first look we thought this coupe-like vehicle was ridiculously sleek in design.
It is powered by a GM-supplied four-cylinder engine and an electric drivetrain, producing that supply with twin AC motors straddling the rear axle deliver 402 horsepower to the differential. Performance wise, it does 0-60 in around 5.9 seconds.
The Karma has a base price of $96, 895, which is pricey, but when you can look this good and tell your friends you're driving an environmentally friendly car, that's worth a lot.
