Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Aston Villa, QPR, Manchester City and Stoke City have all been linked with these lesser known transfer targets from Italy's Serie A.
Stevan Jovetic, Edison Cavani, Daniele de Rossi the Italian league has seen its fair share of massive transfer rumours over the summer and as January hurtles toward us there is little change on that front.
Here are five who could be playing in the Premier League.
Juan Fernando Quintero – Pescara
‘La Nueva Promesa’ has become a sensation at Italian side Pescara and is yet another rising star in the Colombian game. Signed on loan to replace the departing Marco Veratti by the promoted side the 19-year-old has not disappointed during his debut season on the continent.
His parent club Atletico Nacional are open to offers with Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus all interested. In the UK; Manchester United have been mentioned as holding a vested interest in the player along with Liverpool and Spurs.
Andreas Granqvist – Genoa
The former Wigan defender did not cover himself in glory during the friendly win over England earlier in November but the Swede is still reportedly being chased by a host of clubs in the Premier League. The Genoa centre-back has been linked to Liverpool, QPR and Sunderland in the past month.
Alexandre Pato – AC Milan
The 23-year-old Brazilian is reportedly desperately unhappy at the San Siro. The Rossoneri would want to recuperate as much of the fee they paid for the forward and have already ruled out a swap deal with Manchester City for Mario Balotelli.
Paris Saint-Germain have distanced themselves from a move leaving many Italian commentators to believe a move to either Juventus or Chelsea the most likely next step. There is also the possibility of him returning to his native Brazil.
Miralem Pjanic – AS Roma
Another seemingly extinct rumour that instead was simply lying dormant. Now it has once again started to become seismic as Tottenham are increasingly linked with a move for the Bosnian free-kick specialist. However with his agent suggesting no move would occur till the summer Spurs fans will have to wait to see him at White Hart Lane.
Mauro Zarate – Lazio
‘The Zarate Kid’ was a popular if not mercurial figure at St Andrews during his short stint with Birmingham City in 2008. He moved on to Lazio and also had a spell on loan at Inter Milan but despite initially finding form under Vladimir Petkovic he now finds himself on the side-lines more often than not. He has fond memories from English football and despite interest from Russia and Spain English duo Liverpool and Stoke City may have the edge.
