AC Milan are thought to be the main threat to Manchester United in the pursuit of Wesley Sneijder. The Dutch midfielder has fallen out of favour with Inter Milan this season which has triggered further interest from United and Milan, both have been linked with moves for the player in the recent past.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Manchester United are going through another injury crisis in terms of wide men. Both Antonio Valencia and Nani have been ruled out of action this week meaning that the out of form Ashley Young is expected to start against West Ham United in the club’s next league game.

However Anderson is certain to start after Sir Alex said 'Anderson picks himself' for the fixture, after his impressive contribution after coming off the bench against QPR at the weekend.

Paul Scholes will not play in the mid-week Premier League match against West Ham United. Scholes picked up his fifth booking of the season in the weekend win over Queens Park Rangers which means he is forced to face the obligatory one match suspension.

Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has said that habit of falling behind in games the side is showing is a massive concern. United have regularly conceded the first goal in the league and in Europe this season with the shot stopper suggesting they have been lucky to get off the hook as frequently as they have done.

The agent of former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has played down speculation linking him with Manchester United. Guardiola recently stated that he respected the way that Manchester United are formed and run as a club suggesting that he would like to replace Sir Alex Ferguson when he retires.

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has said he is confident that teammate Ryan Shawcross will sign a new deal with the club. The Stoke captain has been linked with a move to Old Trafford where he spent most of his days as a youth player before Manchester United sold him for £1 million.

Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a stab at main rivals Liverpool suggesting the club didn’t do their homework before signing Andy Carroll. Liverpool paid £35 million for the striker before subsequently sending him on loan to West Ham United, Manchester United’s Premier League mid-week opponents.
