6. 1970 - Pope Paul VI is attacked at the Manila airport by a Bolivian painter disguised as a priest

7. 1975 - The BBC TV presenter and co-founder Ross McWhirter of the Guinness Book of Records is killed outside his home

8. 1990 - John Major wins the Conservatives' leadership election, becoming Britain's new Prime Minister

9. 2000 - Schoolboy Damilola Taylor dies in after being stabbed outside his home

10. 2003 - President Bush secretly flys to Iraq to spend Thanksgiving with the troops

11. 2011 - Mexico City claim to have broken the world record of having the largest 'zombie walk' in the world, after almost 10,000 people dressed as zombies paraded through the city
