Could Rafa Benitez be sacked by next week if...

Benitez Tour 2

Could Chelsea's owner hit the trigger switch twice in the space of a month?

Here's a possibility.

- Shakhtar beat Juventus in the Champions League next week, opening the gate for Chelsea to qualify for the knockout rounds.

- Only for Chelsea's Benitez to draw 0-0 with FC Nordjaelland and fail to progress.

Don't knock it as unimaginable, because on form it just might happen.

The Danish side are no mugs, they drew with Juventus earlier this tournament, and under Benitez, two games in Chelsea just aren't clicking.

With supporters frustrated, no goals, and players not performing, it could be a frustrating night next Wednesday. And it would be the equivalent of missing an open goal from a yard out.

There's a tricky away tie to West Ham in between, the pressure really could mount on Benitez, ridiculous as it may sound.

So if the above scenario did occur, how would Roman react?

We are pretty sure he would be furious, not only with himself, but with Benitez and the team. For if Juventus do lose, and Chelsea fail to take advantage in their 'on paper' home banker against Nordsjaelland, it would surely be in managerial terms, criminal.

With any other club we wouldn't even suggest he may be sacked after what would amount to a 10 day period, but with Chelsea you just quite never know.

Supporters would be outraged, and keen to take the pressure off himself, who knows, Abramovich may fire Benitez and re-hire Di Matteo, claiming he has learned the error of his ways and listened to supporters.

Now if Juventus do lose, Chelsea will probably edge a 1-0 win via a penalty and Benitez will plough on, but the scenarios ahead are fascinating, and it certainly makes you wonder if Abramovich sacked his man too early.

What do you think Roman will do and should do if Chelsea fail to beat Nordsjaelland and Juventus also lose?
